It's been one whole year with a mostly carnivore lifestyle. My diet consists mainly of beef, butter, bacon, eggs, and dairy, with occasional fish. I still use plants, mainly in the form of seasonings and seeds. I indulged for Thanksgiving and ate things like mashed potatoes for the first time since this journey began. The results were adding 3 pounds back to my belly, also due to chocolate. It seems that is my weakness. I started eating chocolate again just after Halloween because it was everywhere. I gave in to the temptation. I found that if I don't overindulge, there is little difference, at least in weight. I'm sure it doesn't help my blood sugar, so I still eat very little chocolate. As soon as the holidays were over, I began dropping weight again. I started the year at 195.5 in 2024. On the same day in 2025, I was at 159.0. For the first six months, click here to read my previous article.
The last six months were as follows.
September 3rd was 161.8 waist 35 3/4 belly 39
October 3rd 161.7 waist 35 3/4 belly 37 1/4
November 3rd 159.5 waist 35 1/4 belly 37
December 3rd 163.0 waist 36 belly 37 3/4
January 3rd 159.0 waist 35 1/2 belly 38 1/2
As I continue with the mostly carnivore choices, I will never go completely carnivore. There are just too many foods I missed and had to get occasionally, such as blueberry muffins, corn, beans, mashed potatoes, and chocolate, as mentioned earlier. I limit the side dishes now, to now and then and focus on a primarily carnivore diet. This lifestyle works for me as I feel healthier, and my gut is happy with my choices. The heartburn that was a daily occurrence for years is gone completely. I feel like I'm on the road to being healthy again for the first time in years, so I am absolutely going to keep the carbs low and monitor my progress.
Another change was a daily drink mix I have in the morning on an empty stomach. I take a shot glass with warm water and add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, one tablespoon of avocado oil, and 1/4 teaspoon of each of the following: ground turmeric, ground ginger, and cayenne pepper. I do this because I watched a video on healthy blood pressure I will link here.
